VW Fastback 08 First Edition

Today I am going to do a more complete review on the VW fastback 08 first edition. This car comes along in the Drift King Thunt wave and comes in quite limited number which is one in every box just like the thunt. Perhaps because its a VW and the casting, superb color and tampo on the car and its limited supply, it's more sought after than the dk itself. Some have said that it is the "thunt" in this wave and not the dk. Yes the dk which is a flat black probably pales in comparison to this vw pedigree.

One of the first thing that you will notice about this car is it's sheer weight. It is fully metal on the outside and is quite heavy.
Photobucket
Photobucket
After taking it out, you will find that the car features an opening back much like the vw dragbus or the vw kahrman ghia of 2007 which was also very limited in number. The back opens and reveals the engine and the drivers seat. The roll cage which is made out of plastic can be detached and proped as a support for the body of the car. However the color could have been better as the lightblue rollcage gives it the "cheap" look. I've got a mind to color it black but probably in the future..haha.

The body of the car also can be detached from the base just like the 08 orange beetlecup to reveal a rather off road dune buggy of sorts, hmmm could be a custom of its own......

All in all, a very good casting and I can undestand why many people are looking for it, Its not just hype, its a good quality car for RM6 or so. Worth your money so if you see the dk wave on the rack, don't just be looking for the green striped card but look out also for the number 39 yellow striped first edition.

Hotwheels AMG Mercedes CLK - DTM

Along with the drift king wave comes a popular mould which is the AMG Mercedes CLK - DTM. This time the all star makes it's return with copper brown colors in different tones and a single white stripe on each side.
Photobucket
A mercedes mould is usually classy and for this mould its no different with tinted windows and its chromed grill with that all too famous Mercedes emblem whcih is usually associated with luxury. The back shows two exhaust pipes chromed as well with a spoiler to give the car a street sporty look. A very rich Ah Beng perhaps.
Photobucket
Photobucket
The interior is also fully chromed. Anyway if you haven't gotten this particular car yet, try to get a few if you see it on the racks because this is one of the cars that is well sought after and is taken off the racks pretty quick along with the Beetlecup, Impavido, Driftking and of course the Vw Fastback.

Matchbox Tanker Truck

Photobucket

More pics of another matchbox in a box series, which is what I am calling it. This one is called tanker truck. It has a tank which is a transparent blue and some nice dome tyres, same like the last one that I reviewd.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
Nice paintjob overall and has a tampo that says H2O patrol on the side of the truck whci suggest that this is a water tanker truck.
As in all the matchbox in a box series, they have at least one if not several movable parts and for this one, its a very rigid hose that can be pulled out from the back of the tank. Finding a movable part on this truck took me some time and after finding it I still could not identify what it was that was sticking out until I did a search on google and found out that it is supposed to be a hose.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Nice tanker truck and again top quality. This is starting to feel like the tomica verion of matchbox.
Photobucket
Good quality and it comes in a box.....The original retail price is RM10 but My sis bought it for RM5.

Matchbox Trash Truck

UPDATE :
Photobucket
Photobucket
Here I have moved the forklift to the front in order to see more clearly the pictures and patterns on the side of the truck.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
This garbage truck is superbly made and is definitely better quality in terms of paintjob, details, and functions than some of the other mainline matchbox cars out there today.
Photobucket
The garbage truck comes with an accesory which is the garbage bin.
Photobucket
The garbage bin can be easily setached from the truck and attached again.
Photobucket
The forklift then can be extended out and fit into the grooves on either side of the garbage bin. Then it has also the lifting action all the way to top to dispose of any garbage and then the truck at the back also lifts to empty itself of any garbage later on...haha
Photobucket
Photobucket
Very nice features on this garbage truck. It has also nice dome wheels which I have never seen before. Very unique and a great find. I still do not know what series of matchbox car this is. It must have been somekind of aniversary or christmas holiday offer since some of the boxes have christmas trees on it but the boxes are old and I am still no closer to knowing the truth about them. Anyway hope you enjoy the pics.

More Matchbox in a Box goodies

Photobucket
After much bribing and persuading, my sis who is currently doing some outstation work for her company in Kuantan, went back to the Store, asked the assistance of the slaes clerk there and managed to obtained 5 more of the peculiar little matchbox boxes. According to her they were all hidden inside the showcase of the Toy section and there were a few more but they were all the same cars inside. Anyway I will be updating soon on whats inside but just a small preview picture below for now ....The rest of the review will be later... Just a hint....all 5 boxes contain trucks:).

Anyone can tell what matchbox lineup is this???

VW NEW BEETLE CUP

Photobucket

I remember as a little boy sitting in my dad's first car which was a classic old VW Beetle. It was such a lovable looking car because of its distinctive "round" shape which gave it the iconic nick name "the Bug". Volkswagon literally means "the people's car" in German created under Hitler's time by Ferdinand Porsche, the man behind Porsche of course. Througout the years the car has gone through many transformations but managed to retain its beetle shape and it will always be called the beetle though that is not its official name.

Photobucket

The New beetle cup is one out of four of the Hotwheels VW series in 2008. Its a bright orange and like the pop off series of 2007, it has the ability to pop off as well.

Photobucket

Photobucket

This is considered the 3rd beetle(excluding the pop off series) since the first edition in 2000. One person or expert pointed out that the number on the sides of the beetle is in sequence from number 1 for the first edition, number 2 for the 2005 and number 3 for the 2008 VW series. I only have the number 2 and of course the number 3 which is easily obtained currently.
Photobucket
Anyway this car is going to be our member's gift car of the Hot Wheels Malaysia Club. It will, I believe, be customed by none other than our resident expert elgee and Rayz-HWC. Can't wait to have it....haha.

MATCHBOX IN A BOX

My Little sis who has been witnessing my ever growing car collection bought me on one of her trips to Kuantan a very peculiar looking Matchbox series which I have never seen before at "The Store". According to her they were clearing away old stock. Anyway this car comes in a box and the car inside is wrapped with tracing paper.
Photobucket
Now the original price of this car in the box is RM10 but she bought it at a very cheap price of RM5. The car is a nice mould but I don't know what make is it since underneath it just says "police car".
Photobucket
However I am sure someone out there would recognize it straight away and probably tell me the name or make of this car. The side of the car bears the name of a "CAPTAIN PETERSON". which I suppose is the character who drives this police vehicle...haha
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
Now after toying around with it I realized that there is something special with this car, or should I say feature, and that is the boot opens.
Photobucket
Okay, not bad then, I have never seen matchbox cars nowadays with openable doors or boot. Anyway its a nice gift from my sister and when I asked her if there is more, she just simply said, you go and find out yourself....haha...but as far as she was concerned, its the only one she saw but there could be more out there. I still don't know what series this is???
