DRIFT KING

Photobucket
We are in the midst of the drift king wave and the start of the 16 Angels wave. I have not found any 16 Angels yet and reports are just starting to come in that it is found in Seremban and Shah Alam area. However back to talking about the driftking, I would like to draw your attention to the super and the regular drift king. I found a super driftking the other day and noticed that the paint is gloss black , exactly like the regular.
Photobucket
Is it supposed to be this way? Usually, the super thunt would have spectraflame paint but after inspecting both the super and regular driftking, I have to conclude that there is no difference at all with respect to the paintjob. Its just plain old glossy black. The only difference I can find are the rubber tyres and the dollar sign on the card. Anyway happy hunting. Hope to find a 16 Angels which may land in a store near you soon.

VW FASTBACK

Photobucket
Well, its official. The Drift King wave has trully arrived but for how long nobody knows. Its reported to be popping up here and there all over KL and Selangor. Today I was able to score the VW fastback. As you know in two post back, I managed to score the same wave with a regular thunt DK but surprisingly no VW fastback. I couldn't understand why and probably never will. However today I saw the hotwheels box on the floor. So I asked for permission to have a look and that is how I scored the vw fastback today. Like the Thunt, there was only one VW fastback in the box which explains why it is in such demand. Besides anything vw in hotwheels is scoffed up in a feeding frenzy....haha
Photobucket
The first thing that strikes me most about this casting is its weight. Like the Kharman Ghia before it its probably one of the heaviest mainline car to be produced since its fully metal and it has a back that opens(like the Kharmann Ghia) to reveal its rear engine.
Photobucket
Well this is one car you definitely want to find a few and keep. Its definitely a great car to have and my crappy camera does not do it justice.

MY FIRST CUSTOM

In the world of Custom, you have some of the famous ones like JDmike and Gee's garage to name some of the few well known ones. I myself am not a customizer and am able to do simple simple things only but just for fun, I converted the semifast 2, from this :

Photobucket

into this, the SEMI HAULER

Photobucket

The steps are simple. Using a spectacle scredriver or something flat and strong enough insert it in the space in the middle of the engine and the truck like so

Photobucket

Using whatever you have inserted as a jack, slowly detach the engine from the truck's cab. Dont worry if you hear a pop as it comes off.

Photobucket

Then use glue or in my case some double sided tape to attach the highway hauler's detachable car ramp onto the semi fast,

Photobucket

and there you have it, the SEMI HAULER
Photobucket

So now you put it side by side with the highway hauler and camwhore it away...haha

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

The best thing is you can attach the semifast huge ass engine back on to the red truck again or you can just exchange it with the highway hauler:

Photobucket

Thanks to mattel for detachable parts...haha...adios

NEW WAVE IS HERE

Photobucket
As we were about to usher in a new christmas, I have managed to find on Christmas Eve, the new wave which contains the regular Drift King. Other notable cars are like the semi fast 2 which has the 40th anniversary tampo and Impavido, blue mustang gt with orange stripe, Dodge charger white and black, ferrari modena and mitsubishi evo variation(the one without the dodgy black frame on the car's windows.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Other cars that I also saw but did not buy are brutalistic, pink escalade and gold corvette. There are many more but I just gave them a pass. My pocket's hole was getting larger so I had to get cars that I liked most and put back the rest. Honestly this wave comes with a nice looking cars. If fate allows me to get them on the second or third pass, I probably would, if not its ok. As I was leaving to pay at the counter, I saw this tall young guy with spectacles and wearing a red collared t-shirt looking through the hotwheels cars on the rack, he picked up the merc clk which I had no intention to get and was digging into the other cars at the back of the rack. I was grateful not to have come at the same time as him otherwise we would be competing and I would not like that at all. That would be awkward. So I quickly paid and left. Anyway MERRY CHRISTMAS to all.

CHRISTMAS GIFT

Photobucket
Its that time again where presents are given to people, whether sometimes we know them or they are strangers. Lowyat Forum is having this exchange christmas gift program hatched by our hotwheels threadstarter "demonicle". The list has grown considerably and I am one of the participants. I have chosen guyy since he was brave enough to choose "demonicle" haha.
Well I have selected these few cars on top to give away to 2 people, one to guyy and the other is to a dear friend of mine just starting to collect. I hope he will be encouraged to collect more by this gift which is my purpose. I just sent out my gift today because believe it or not, I could not find a box suitable to contain the toys. Anyway my gift will probably reach them post christmas I think so you can still send your gift because thats what matters. Anyway go to lowyat forum now and sign up by just replying in the forum saying you wanna participate.....Tis the season to be jolly so Merry Christmas to all christian friends and remember to participate in the gift exchange program.

UNEXPECTED FIND

Photobucket
I don't know how to say this but, after running from one Jusco to another, I finally found the super Drift King...it was still in the box when I found it on the showcase counter of this particular Jusco's toy section. It was around 3pm at that time and the the sales assistant in charge was busy tidying up and restocking the pegs, while she was busy I dove into the box and walla, a super dk not even pricetagged yet along with some other desired cars.....The paint on the DK however is not spectraflame like the other supers though. It looks kinda normal except for the wheels. Anyway, Juscos are restocking with the DK wave right now.....so what are you waiting for, go and get your super. You may be next to score....Jusco is selling hotwheels for RM5.90...

LATEST HOTWHEELS WAVE

Photobucket

Since last week, many collectors have reported finding cars that belonged to the Drift King wave. So with great excitement and anticipation many of us thought that our chance to get our hands on the Drift King thunt had arrived. However it was not to be or perhaps I should say so easy. The reason is because this wave which belongs to the drift king just does not come with the regular thunt but instead it comes with the very rare and hard to find super drift king. Problem is there are not that many supers to go around and so many of us have yet to find a regular or super drift king even though the new wave has hit.
However this wave does come with some great cars like the orange new beetlecup, the urban agent, saleen, mercs clk, and many more muscle cars not included in this picture. Close up picture will follow soon of these cars. At the meantime keep on hunting people and find that super drift king(telling myself also) before its too late....I found mine at Tesco for RM5.70 and some others I have seen are at Jusco at RM5.90.

LAST CARARAMA REVIEW

Photobucket
This is my last and final Cararama car review that I will make for this year. The VW Golf GTI is one of the more sought after car model in the diecast world. Whether it is hotwheels, matchbox or some other diecast maker, it doesn't really matter, it is a must have for most collectors and diecast enthusiast alike. One thing I like about the Cararama diecast model is again the attention to detail, from the headlights to the tail lights, to the tyre rims and everything else are made to resemble as close as possible to the actual car in real life.
Photobucket
Photobucket
The weight of the car is also surprisingly heavy which lends to the solid feel of the car.
Photobucket
Photobucket

Hope you liked my cararama car reviews so far and I hope that you have managed to get youself some from Tesco. Tesco Kajang has just run out of stock temporarily. Restock may happen again next week.

URBAN AGENT

What car may most likely debut soon as a James Bond car and why? Answer: Urban Agent because it has a missle that actually fires.
Photobucket
According to Hotwheels wiki, Urban Agent is a Hotwheels casting designed by Josh Henson that debuted in the 2008 New Models. The car's body material is a Metalflake Matte Gray with tampos that say Henson? and the numbers 071779? Anybody can tell me what they mean?
Photobucket
Photobucket
The missle actually is able to detach completely from the chasis of the car although the picture shows its like a tongue sticking out.
The base of the car is red plastic that looks abit like a jet fighter's fugelage adorned with rockets and missles.(ignore the cicak's shit beside it...haha)
Photobucket
Overall the car is uniquely good looking. I got mine at a Jusco for Rm5.90.

SUPER THUNTS THUS FAR

Photobucket
Its December and soon 2008 will come to an end. So far we have only seen 8 different hotwheels waves namely the 300c, dodge viper, buick, mustang, plymouth, hotbird, funny car, and more recently drift king. That makes 8 different waves that has hit our malaysian shores. Actually we shouldn't say hit our Malaysian shores because Hotwheels are made in Malaysia. It will be more accurate to say 8 waves of hotwheels were released in Malaysia. That leaves us with another 4 more thunt waves which we are yet to see but we do not know when. My personal hope is that we will see it soon as I am optimistic as a hunter for thunts and super thunts. I hope that they will come out soon. Maybe all these 4 waves will come out simultaneously and we will get to see them in the month of December spilling into the month of January next year, I don't know but I hope to be able to complete the 2008 thunts. May I hit the motherload soon....haha

ANOTHER CARARAMA

Photobucket
This time I am going to review the Volvo c30 from Cararama. Again Kudos on the attention to detail made on this car. The proportions are simply perfect for a car this cheap. Trully I have got to say it again, cararama cars are surprisingly good. This particular model actually makes the volvo look sexy...haha.
Photobucket
Let me just do a comparison between this model and the real thing.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Not bad right? Quite close to the real thing.....So what are you waiting for, the cars are going off the shelves fast the last time I checked....This lineup is great for any diecast lover's collection.

SUPER FUNNY CAR

Photobucket
I found these the other day in one of the 7-elevens during their promotion week. As the lady was busy serving other customers, she left an opened box of hotwheels on the the floor which looked like she was just starting to arrange it on the shleves. This was on the first day of their promotion. So with a boyish girn, I asked her if I could have a look and she signaled with a nod 'yes'. So I just ransacked the whole box and at last came up with a super and a regular funnycar. Now this baby is probably the heaviest tresure hunt ever, heavier than the Plymouth roadrunner. Its Metallic brown in colour with Hot Wheels Treasure Hunt on bonnet & doors.
Photobucket

I am really pleased with the wheels of the super which has goodyear inprinted on it. Makes it one thunt super you must try to get.
Photobucket
The price is RM4.90 which is about US1.30. Great car and great tampos and worth every single ringgit you spend on it.

MORE CARARAMA

Photobucket
Introducing another Cararama exclusive, the Alfa Romeo Brera. Again for 5 Malaysian ringgit, I am simply blown away by the details of these cars. The wheels on this particular model are probably the best I have seen for this model lineup. The car's details itself are simply awesome. The body finishing is also excellent. Its proportions are really good, close to the real thing.
Photobucket
Photobucket

Now one of the things that surprised me the most about this car is the interior. As you take a peek from the roof of the car you can pretty much view clearly the interior dashboard of the car(I must add that the doors for these Cararama cars cannot open).
Photobucket
Now compare it to the real picture of the interior of the car below:
Photobucket
Really detailed for a 5 malaysian ringgit car. I simply love it. Anyway this car can be found in some TESCO stores as it is on promotion. I found mine at TESCO Kajang.
Lastly, I leave you with the picture of the car in real life.

Plymouth Roadrunner

Photobucket
I remembered telling myself "if only I could find a super thunt roadrunner", I would be happy even if I did not manage to find the other 11 super thunts. The reason is because I think among all the thunt lineup for 2008, its the best looking one in my opinion plus the color just suits the green thunt stripe on the card...haha. So somehwere in the middle of this year, Mattel started doing a promotion for their "Promo boxes" which has the Designer challenge cars plus four normal hotwheels cars, which makes a total of 5 altogether.
Photobucket

It was in these promo boxes that I managed to find my super plymouth not one but two. But it sure burns a hole in your pocket since the price for one is around 25 malaysian ringgit which is about US$7 per promo box. Its not that bad for one promo box but in the intial stages of the promotion where the only way for you to score a plymouth roadrunner thunt is in one of the promo boxes(in the Malaysian hotwheels market, there were no single card thunt plymouth provided by Mattel to be sold on the racks), the accumalated number of promo boxes bought just to get that thunt reaches to a place where it is ridiculous. Now even if I see a promo box with a thunt Plymouth inside, I will just give it a pass unless its a super. This sucks for me as a collector in Malaysia but hey I have to set a limit because of this.....

CARARAMA

Cararama has always surprised me with their above average quality budget model cars scaled at 1:43. The car I bought today is a Porsche 911 Carrera.
Photobucket
The paintjob is reasonably good plus the details are quite up to standard for such a budget car.
Their attentiont to detail to make it as close to the real thing is surprisingly good.
Photobucket
Photobucket

My favourite part of the car are the brake calipers which are yellow in this case. Check out the wheels on this model with the real thing.
Photobucket
Photobucket

Tesco is selling them right now at 5 ringgit per car which is about US$1.40 only. To me you can't go wrong with that kind of pricing. Other models include the new VW Beetle, Ford Focus, Land Rover, BMW ZR1 and a few more which I cannot recall. So go now to your nearest Tesco and get yourself a Cararama model car. Its totally worth it.
